As one of the planet’s most discerning markets, the Land of the Rising Sun has been fertile ground for many a luxury brand for many decades. Since its inception in 2006, The Row‘s clean silhouettes and modern elegance has quickly gained a loyal following here, serving its client base online, but also with a shop-in-shop at Dover Street Market Ginza in Tokyo, in addition to pop-up store iterations. The latest ephemeral retail initiative in Japan, the most elaborate to date, has recently been inaugurated at Isetan Shinjuku department store in Tokyo. In fact, The Row will have two pop-up stores here, one at the department store’s main building, presenting its 2024 Women’s Winter Collection, while at the men’s building, the 2024 Men’s Winter Collection will be showcased.

Both collections will be presented in specially designed settings. Situated on an elevated level, the women’s collection sees a semi-enclosed setting, featuring pristine white wall panels with tiered shelving and paired with dark grey carpeting. Sleek steel clothing racks are interspersed with carefully sourced furnishings which add a sophisticated homey touch to the retail space. The men’s pop-up store is no different, although the demarcation of the premises is more architectural and the setting infused with more colour (on through Nov 26). Following the showcase in the Japanese capital, The Row will additionally inaugurate separate women’s and men’s pop-up stores at Hankyu Umeda department store in Osaka on Wed – Dec 18. © superfuture
