Milan Fashion Week kicks off today in the Lombardian capital, and next to a busy schedule of invite-only shows, the city is dotted with showrooms where the fashion clique converges to sniff out next season’s trophies. London-based Albanian designer Nensi Dojaka has quickly established a name for herself after graduating from Central St. Martins with body-hugging, hyper sexy silhouettes, and she’s in Milan to do business, setting up a striking temporary showroom for fashion week on the premises of her agent Massimo Bonini. The showroom, designed by Giorgia Rossi and Francesco Gennaro of Milan-based architecture and interior design practice Moitié Studio, is situated at the so-called Red Room of Palazzo Borromeo d’Adda, a landmark 18th-century building in the city’s Duomo district and former abode of Italian nobleman Marquis Febo d’Adda. The opulence of the room serves as a backdrop for a seemingly inserted setting of soft powder-coloured panelling which lines the walls. However, the upper part of the walls, in addition to the windows, are still exposed, creating an intentional eclectic visual effect. Carpeting in a similar hue creates unifies the setting’s different elements. Furnishings comprise matching custom-designed clothing racks and mannequins, in addition to two seating arrangement right below the room’s imposing chandelier. Wall-mounted tubular lights boldly demarcate the showroom’s parameters. The Nensi Dojaka showroom presents items from the designer’s A/W 2024 Collection. (open through Feb 26). © superfuture.com
