Japanese fashion house ISSEY MIYAKE has relocated its flagship store on rue Royale in Paris to an even more prestigious location on rue François Ier. Occupying no less than 360 sqm. (3,875 sq.ft.) set across two lofty floors of an imposing 19th-century building, the retail space sees an interior design by acclaimed Tokyo-based architect and longtime collaborator Tokujin Yoshioka. The architect’s well-known understated aesthetic obviously contrasts with the building’s historic context, but it’s boosted even further by the infusion of vibrant colours, notably orange, captured by aluminium wall panels, a shade which he considers the most compatible with the sun. Unsurprisingly, the colour also symbolises the late designer Issey Miyake‘s joyful sense of style. Both floors feature open layouts and are sparsely furnished. Clothing is predominantly presented on sleek metal clothing racks lining the walls, and the balustrades and most of the displays are crafted from clear glass, all adding to a distinct sense of lightness and spaciousness. The new ISSEY MIYAKE flagship store stocks quite a few women’s and men’s lines of the iconic fashion house, including ISSEY MIYAKE, Pleats Please, Homme Plissé, BAO BAO, perfumes, watches, and eyewear. © superfuture
