Seven years after first opening a flagship store in the upscale Cheongdam shopping area of Seoul, French fashion house CELINE has relocated to a more prominent location a few blocks away. Occupying a seven-storey modern building on Apgujeong-ro, arguably the neighbourhood’s most prestigious shopping artery, the retail space features the design codes as laid down by CELINE‘s previous creative director Hedi Slimane. The premises see a backdrop of white walls, swathes of marble, polished gold brass and mirrored surfaces, and shelving units with chrome finishings for mirror-clad cabinets and a wide range of carefully sourced range of Brutalist-inspired furnishings. The contemporary splendour is further boosted by a range of art pieces part which are part of the CELINE Art Project, an ongoing art programme launched in 2019 by Slimane which commissions art works. The works on display here in Seoul include a painting by Benjamin Lallier, and sculptures by Matt Browning, Lukas Geronimas, Kim Yun Shin, John Duff, Eli Ping and Nicola Martini. Needless to say, this newly opened CELINE flagship store offers the full range of merchandise, from women’s and men’s apparel, accessories, shoes and bags, to jewellery pieces, home products and fragrances. © superfuture
