Following two boutiques and two shop-in-shops, Saint Laurent has inaugurated a new standalone store in New York City. Measuring no less than 13,000 sq.ft. (1,208 sqm.) spread across two floors of a redeveloped industrial building in the Meatpacking District, the retail space features an interior design by Saint Laurent‘s longtime creative director Anthony Vaccarello. Similar to the Saint Laurent flagship store on avenue des Champs-Elysées in Paris, which we’ve covered in a previous post, the premises are unapologetically sumptuous and high on visual drama. Understated yet intricately layered, the settings intriguingly pair raw materials, such as corduroy concrete, with various luxurious materials, including Cipollino and Fantasy Grey marble, glazed ceramic and walls clad in black mirror. An imposing grand staircase in black timber is a focal point of the ground floor interior. The retail space is dotted with carefully sourced vintage furniture pieces by a string of renowned designers which add a refined visual layer to the expansive boutique. The list of designers include Francis Jourdain, Richard Meier, Frank Lloyd Wright, Robert Guillerme and Jacques Chambon, and Edward Wormley. The new Saint Laurent store carries the full range of women’s and men’s apparel, accessories, bags, shoes, jewellery and eyewear. © superfuture
