Known for capturing sophisticated lifestyles in a growing number of coffee table books, Assouline is a veritable treasure trove for a crowd that’s appreciative of the finer things in life. Needless to say, its many stores across the planet ooze a certain elegance and savoir-vivre, and the newest Assouline retail space in New York City is no exception. Situated on the corner of Madison Avenue and 62nd Street, smack in the middle of swanky Upper East Side, it’s an ephemeral store which sits on the ground floor of a residential structure built in 1930. The interior design, created by the publisher’s in-house design team at home base Paris, sees an abundance of Assouline Red, the brand’s signature Pantone shade, starting with pop-up store’s large awning.

Inside, a homey space unfolds with a backdrop of red and white wall sections, shelves all around, laden with Assouline books, and how very apt, a series of curated library objects. Seating in the middle, comprising four beautiful upholstered red chairs, offers shoppers to sit back and indulge in a little reading. The new Assouline pop-up store stocks the full range of its luxury books, from its Special Editions and highly-praised handcrafted Ultimate volumes, to the coveted Travel Series and other diverse collections. In a first for Assouline stateside, the ephemeral retail space comes with a small street side café. Seating just four, it offers an all-day menu of pastries, fresh juices, and a full coffee menu, along with a selection of refreshing beverages. The temporary Assouline retail space has no fixed end date. © superfuture
