Almost a decade after retaW first opened up shop in the Harajuku area of home base Tokyo, a second retail space has opened its doors in Osaka. Quite similarly, the niche fragrance brand has secured a location in a neighbourhood that’s brimming with fashionable stores such as BAPE, Studious, Supreme, SNKRDUNK, Nubian and Hysteric Glamour. The retaW store occupies a 44,52 sqm. (479 sq.ft.) unit inside a low-rise structure and sees a renewed collaboration with architect Nobuo Araki of Tokyo-based practice The Archetype. The setting features a clean and understated aesthetic, captured by a matching material palette comprising concrete, wood, metal, and pristine tiles, creating tranquil refuge from the city’s hustle and bustle. The designed is marked by an elongated, climate-controlled cabinet on one side of the store, while directly opposite, a low-rise tiled wall, creates a ledge to display retaW merchandise.
