Following the closure of its men’s boutique in Milan, Christian Louboutin has upped the ante in this leading fashion capital, offering the full range of coveted merchandise in a brand new store in the city’s highly prestigious Duomo district. The retail space, frivolously dubbed Loubi Milano, is of a temporary nature, and is located in a side street just off the flagship store-infested Via Montenapoleone. Occupying 60 sqm. (646 sq.ft.) on the ground floor of a modern structure, the interior design is full-on Louboutin, featuring a boudoir setting dripping in a red hue, and equally striking, a façade embellished by classic architectural details in brush strokes. In fact, it’s an homage to the very first store that founder and creative director Christian Louboutin opened 30 years ago at Galerie Véro-Dodat, an ornate 19th-century covered passage in Paris.

As such, the interior design, created by the brand’s in-house design team, features an abundance of meticulous detailing which add to the design’s exuberance. Papier-mâché lemurs are part of the window installations and can be found elsewhere on the premises while an elephant greets customers entering the store. On either side, ornate and arched recessed shelving presents the cobbler’s shoes and bags, and the middle wall covered in faux pigeon holes, another Louboutin signature element, conceals the so-called Salon Privé, an inner sanctum with cabinets featuring even more trophies. Delicately designed wallpapers by Atelier de la Torre, an artisan workshop in Paris. The new Christian Louboutin boutique carries the brand’s full range of men’s and women’s shoes, sneakers and bags, but also offers special services, such as sneaker cleaning.
