As the leading luxury department store in the Low Countries, de Bijenkorf has seen a gradual and unprecedented transformation in recent years, and it’s one which has put it on a par with iconic department stores in the global fashion capitals. The recent completion of the men’s floor renewal at the company’s Amsterdam flagship is the latest indication of this new stature, pairing a wide range of top brands with contemporary settings and a boost in services for the discerning male. The latest areas to be revealed include the so-called Concept Space which, as a true showcase reflecting fashion’s meandering trajectory, will be home to a programme of projects and exclusive brand presentations, a men’s cosmetics section, and one dedicated to new gadgets. Amsterdam-based streetwear label The New Originals inaugurates the space with four different presentations, one of which is a collab with de Bijenkorf on two garments.

Mind you, the list of upcoming showcases includes Bally and Moncler GeniusIsaac’s Bar, named after Aron Arthur Isaac (1865-1932) one of its most significant dignitaries, fully captures is the men’s department’s contemporary approach to fashion and lifestyle. Taking centre stage is an elongated bar, crafted from sustainable elmwood, and paired with elegant stools and a row of sleek pendant lamps. Although first and foremost a watering hole which serves almost any imaginable beverage and cocktails, the venue also serves breakfast and a range of tasty bites, allowing shoppers to sit back in style and ponder over their next trophy purchase. The final renewal phase of de Bijenkorf‘s men’s floor also sees the arrival of additional luxury brands such as Versace, Salle Privée and Giorgio Armani.
