Founded in 2013 by self-made serial entrepreneur Tobi Skovron, the CreativeCubes.Co workspace chain has launched a number of venues across Melbourne, and the latest one to open is in the city’s fast-emerging South Melbourne area. The new branch is situated on the ground floor of South Melbourne Central, a large mixed-use complex which opened last year, and occupies an area of no less than 4,000 sqm. (43,056 sq.ft.) set across two floors. Skovron tapped Corso Interior Architecture, a local practice he collaborated with on two previous CreativeCubes.Co workspaces in the city, to create the venue’s interior design. The various settings, which each serve a different purpose, are tied in by way of a 500-metre running track which adds a whimsical note.

The design makes use of lots of natural light, and an internal atrium with lots of plants and greenery also creates a beautifully presented co-working space that is a pleasure to work in. Additionally, energy efficient lighting and sensors are also used throughout the premises, ensuring a more sustainable and cost effective use of energy. Pops of neon light and an eclectic mix of street art are blended in, adding energy and even more playfulness to the settings. As a modern co-working and office space, CreativeCubes.Co meets all standards of today’s mobile entrepreneurs. Offices have strategically placed solid walls to offer maximum light and minimise external sounds, and the shape of the booths has also been designed to help keep sound in.

There’s also a series of meeting and conference rooms readily available, and these share similar design codes. Fully equipped to meet today’s business requirements, each of these spaces has been given a different design theme, featuring either bold colours, wallpaper or a striking textured element. One of the meeting rooms feels like an exclusive bar as it features walls lined with cabinets stocked with whiskey and tufted leather sofas. Last but not least, a multifunctional event space can be found on the premises. Called MicDrop, it measures a spacious 213 sqm. (2,293 sq.ft.) and features concrete flooring, floor-to-ceiling glass, plenty of natural light, sweeping downtown skyline views, and all the required audio-visual equipment to get any event going.
