Designer Chitose Abe has come a long way. Since founding sacai in 1999, her brand has gone leaps and bounds, finding an avid clientele across the planet. Generally seen as cool, forward, and having the inimitable Japanese style DNA, it’s now stocked at a select number of leading boutiques and department stores. But Abe has now stepped up sacai‘s retail footprint by launching the so-called Hello Sacai pop-up tour to key destinations in Europe, Asia and the U.S., and the first stop is Paris, the city where she has been showing her collections in the past few years. The ephemeral retail space in the French capital, aptly named Bonjour sacai, has been set up in collab with her old friend Sarah Andelman – formerly at the helm of iconic Parisian concept store Colette, and now running the Just An Idea brand consultancy – and features a seemingly makeshift yet funky interior design by longtime collaborator Ryota Morikawa. The pop-up store carries sacai‘s latest collections, in addition to limited edition collab items with French brands, such as A.P.C., Hervé Chapelier and Petit Bateau (open through Mar 9).

Publishers Note
Just to be clear – superfuture® is a design blog and not a political commentator. No surprise there. The scope of our content has always been global and borderless, however that can often mean covering projects in countries where we will not agree with the politics or actions of those countries. In a world that’s as screwed up as ever right now, the focus of our support is to those designers, architects and other creatives who aim to make the world a more liveable one – as opposed to people that try their hardest to destroy it. So if a project hits our desk and we like it based on its design credentials, we may choose to publish regardless of its location or creators nationality. superfuture® has always been inclusive and hopes for all current wars, aggression, violence, hate and extremism to end.
