A cultured Cali girl has arrived in New York City and her name is Ciao Lucia. We’re talking the Los Angeles-based women’s brand which has swept quite a number of today’s it girls off their feet with beautifully designed, slightly Boho-chic garments that help them effortlessly channel their inner Mediterranean diva. Designer Lucy Akin now brings her designs to the East Coast, opening a pop-store today in New York City, also her very first foray into physical retail. Situated in the city’s edgy Lower East Side, the interior design takes cues from Akin’s favourite hotels in Italy—Palazzo San Danielle in the Apulia region, Rome‘s G-Rough, and Le Sirenuse on the scenic Amalfi Coast. Needless to say, the interior design aims to bring the vintage Italian feel of the brand to life, and Akin reached out to her best friend and interior decorator Gregory Rockwell to achieve this. Furniture pieces have been cherry-picked at Art of Antiquing, Rockwell’s vintage dealer in Maine, and match beautifully with the backdrop of lime washed walls. The back of the store is adorned with a mural is by artist Gabriella Picone of Idda Studio. The Ciao Lucia pop-up store carries pieces the brand’s latest collection and will remain open for month. Mind you, the first 100 shoppers will get a complimentary Ciao Lucia tote.
