Hailing from Luanda, creative director Bertony Da Silva (1989) relocated to Antwerp at age 14, and only a few years later, in 2009, he founded Arternative, the precursor of his current brand Arte Antwerp. Initially, Da Silva only designed T-shirts, but gradually expanded to a full men’s wardrobe, featuring apparel, accessories, bags and small leather goods under the Arte Antwerp moniker. Since 2016, branded retail spaces have been inaugurated, first at home base Antwerp, then, three years ago, in neighbouring Brussels, and as of late, also in Paris. Here, Da Silva has secured an elongated ground floor unit alongside rue du Temple, one of the buzzing Marais district’s most important shopping arteries.

Flanked by boutiques of peers from the premium fashion universe, such as Carhartt WIP, Stüssy, Colorful Standard, Pyrenex and Bellerose. Da Silva tapped local design practice HARMO PARIS to create a fitting interior design which, given the narrow and elongated dimensions, offers a clever play on perspective, and as such, a dynamic visual shopping experience. Pristine white walls and concrete flooring form the backdrop of a seemingly inserted mid section, crafted from dark timber, and taking shape as both a solid and swirling volume. At the back of the Arte Antwerp store, below ceiling lighting panels, fitting rooms can be found. The new Arte Antwerp store stocks the brand’s full range of apparel, accessories, bags and small leather goods. © superfuture
