Fashion brand INSILENCE continues its expansion on home turf and has opened a new store in Seongsu, a fast-emerging and highly fashionable shopping district in Seoul. It’s in fact the second flagship store in the South Korean capital following last summer’s opening of the first retail space in the Hannam area. The new store occupies a 123 sqm. (1,324 sq.ft.) space on the second floor of a modern yet generic industrial building with a red brick façade, and features an interior design by Busan-based architecture practice Design by 83. The chosen aesthetic, themed Rebuild, it deviates from the conventional, weaving together new connections and expanding in diverse forms and strategies. Meanwhile, the design reflects a blend of the old and the new, capturing the essence of the buzzing neighbourhood. As such, the retail space features a backdrop of raw concrete flooring, whitewashed walls, and an exposed ceiling for an array of sleek, asymmetrical furniture pieces, all crafted from metal. A sophisticated system of suspended light spots straddles across the ceiling and ties in with the furnishings below.
