Offering effortless silhouettes for quality downtime, it’s no wonder Venroy boutiques can be found in some of the most coveted seaside locations, and its latest location in Sydney is no exception. Situated at Bondi, a popular beach which has slowly transformed into a destination for the fashion-savvy, the store occupies a ground floor unit on the premises of the Bondi Beach Post Office, a redeveloped, listed building from the early 1920s. The interior design, created by architect Sarah I’Anson in collaboration with Venroy creative director Sean Venturi, is understated and clean, but also includes subtle references to the sunny Mediterranean island of Capri – mind you, you’ll also find a Venroy outpost there – and in particular Casa Malaparte, a spectacular villa perched on seaside rocks.

As such, the store interior has been designed according to rationalist principles, reduced to its essential elements and rendered in enduring materials such as limestone, cedar and plaster. These elemental materials combine with a soft, neutral palette to create a timeless backdrop for the shifting, seasonal hues of Venroy’s holiday-inspired collections. Furnishings are few and comprise custom-built chairs, stools, a table and bench, all crafted from locally sourced cedar, and paired with a number of curated design pieces. The latter range includes a bookshelf by Vittorio Introini, a custom-brushed aluminium table by Brud Studia, antique roman ceramics and an Ikebana wall vase from the Land of the Rising Sun. The new Venroy store carries the brand’s men’s and women’s apparel, accessories and swimwear.
