Just days ago, EmSphere, a six-storey shopping centre and newest addition to the EmQuartier cluster of shopping malls in Bangkok, finally opened its doors. As it’s concepted as premier shopping grounds for the city’s youthful shoppers, Club21 is obviously in in the game. The pan-Asian retailer has introduced its Club21 LAB concept here and tapped Bangkok-based architecture practice Studio Krubka to create a fitting interior design. The store occupies a lofty 350 sqm. (3,767 sq.ft.) unit on the shopping centre’s M Floor, and features an open plan configuration with a minimalist setting, featuring raw materials and putting the technicality of the construction front and centre. As such, concrete, lightweight steel and even metal studs are exposed, each connected through colourful details such as blue grouting, metal sleeves, ratchet belts, all to highlight the aforementioned rawness of the materials and the art of joinery.

The latter design objective aims to reflect experimentation in clothing, which in turn resonates with the Club21 LAB‘s target demographic of the store concept. The setting is anchored by a striking faux concrete staircase which serves as the store’s main display, beckoning shoppers from afar. The majority of furnishings come in the same material—display tables, seating and cabinets. Some of the pieces are crafted with steel elements which tie in with other aspects of the store setting such as clothing racks and light fixtures overhead. The back wall is covered in a row of vertically encased tubular lights, heightening the industrial vibe of the store. The newly opened Club21 LAB stocks a curated selection of highky coveted brands from across the planet that specifically appeal to a young consumer base, including Courrèges, JACQUEMUS, Comme des Garçons PLAY, Coperni and Aeca.
