Founded in 2018 by designer Anna Bratanova, who was soon after joined by business partner Sonya Shyrkova, womenswear brand EVE&ESTHER has quickly established itself as the preferred purveyor of a savvy young female clientele. Taking its operations to a higher level, EVE&ESTHER has recently opened a standalone store in Moscow‘s leafy Presnenskiy district. Situated off bustling Tverskoy Bulevar and just a stone’s throw away from the illustrious Pushkin Theatre, the store occupies an elongated 70 sqm. (754 sq.ft.) unit on the ground floor of a rather grand Neoclassical structure built in 1902 by architect Leonid Aleksandrovitch Khersonskiy (1870-1917). The interior design, created by local architecture practice room design büro, is both understated and modern, and as such, in stark contrast with the building’s ornate façade.

A whitewashed slightly vaulted ceiling and walls are paired with terrazzo flooring, forming the backdrop for only a few furnishings and fixtures. A sizeable display table, comprising an a steel grid and large coil spring undercarriage and top of stacked marble shards, ties in with the equally coil spring-inspired wall-mounted clothing racks and metal light fixtures dangling from the ceiling. In the middle of the EVE&ESTHER retail space a floor-to-ceiling curtain, decorated by illustrator Ilya Kutoboy, envelops not only a section of the side wall, but also a fitting room. At the far end, a cozy seating area, furnished  with a sofa, side table and large mirror, can be found. And that’s not all. Aiming to interact with its clientele on more than one level, the EVE&ESTHER store is also home to a café in an adjacent room. The doorway is clad in mirrors and also decorated by the aforementioned illustrator, just like another striking curtain which conceals the back wall.
