As we’ve said it before, Canada upholds a forward legislation towards cannabis, and since 2018 consumption for private use has been allowed, as well as the cultivation of cannabis, spawning various interesting initiatives in retail nationwide. Founded in Toronto by Drummond Munro and Mimi Lam only three years ago, Superette is a cannabis retailer which gained the limelight with a number of striking, design-led retail spaces across town. The company’s latest initiative, dubbed Sip ‘n Smoke, is concepted as a grab ‘n’ go kiosk, and situated in the city’s emerging Trinity-Bellwoods neighbourhood. Occupying a 690 sq.ft. (64 sqm.) ground floor space alongside one of the area’s main arteries, the retail space has been created by Superette‘s in-house design team and sees a cafeteria-inspired setting dipped in a bright yellow hue. Despite the compact dimensions of Sip ‘n’ Smoke, the design makes the most of space, featuring an L-shaped counter and ample shelving to present the merchandise. As said, this is a kiosk, so items here may not be as abundant as at the company’s other stores, the interior design and placement still provide customers an immersive shopping experience. So, what’s on the shelves? The store exclusively sells a curated selection of ready-to-consume pre-rolls and beverages, but also cleverly blends in hipster lifestyle items such as portable speakers, blankets, bottle openers and Superette totes. Interestingly, the cannabis dispenser has ambitious plans to take its retail concept across the border, launching design-led stores in New York City and Los Angeles in the course of next year.
