While Dubai continuously steals the global spotlight with glitzy superlative venues, other cities in the United Arab Emirates. are quietly making their mark with an increasing number of smaller-scale yet interesting venues. In the latter category falls Ethr ClubHaus, an alluring garden lounge, bakery and café rolled into one, and which caters to a savvy young demographic. Nestled on the premises of Al Mamsha Sharjah by Alef, a newly opened mixed-use urban development in Sharjah‘s emerging Muwaileh district. the venue seamlessly adapts to the lifestyle and needs of its local dwellers. Ethr ClubHaus occupies a 250 sqm. (2,691 sq.ft.) unit inside one of the area’s modern buildings and features an interior design by local architecture practice shell+core. Upon entering Ethr ClubHaus, customers find a sunken garden lounge, across a narrow, light-filled retail and kitchen block to the main dining area.

Set on multiple levels, the settings incites interaction between customers and staff interaction. Meanwhile floor-to-ceiling glass across the full length of the space allows in floods of natural light, creating a pleasant open atmosphere. A sizeable kitchen block crafted from plywood and textured glass offers an intriguing contrast. The palette largely consists of recycled materials, including a re-purposed cork wallpaper in earthy brown hues. Green marble derived from rock formations in the local landscape not only allows for a cohesive layering of materials, but is also a firm nod to local identity. Additionally, Ethr ClubHaus features seating outdoor in a semi-landscaped strip along the façade. The café offers a wide variety of coffee concoctions and matcha, but also a menu of all-day dishes, bites and pastries. © superfuture
