The store of cult fashion brand SUNNEI has relocated a number of blocks south to new and bigger premises at home base Milan. In fact, it has settled snugly inside the company’s headquarters. Occupying no less than 150 sqm. (1,615 sq.ft.), it’s actually a store, café and gallery space rolled into one. The interior design, created by creative directors Loris Messina and Simone Rizzo in collaboration with local design practice 2050+, the settings defy traditional retail parameters, and instead emphasises its hybrid concept by providing, and quite literally so, a seamless shopping experience. This means that should a question arise about a garment while shopping, one of the designers might come down to provide an educated answer.

Rightfully dubbed Palazzina SUNNEI, it’s the immersive epicentre of all things SUNNEI. Mind you, you’ll even hear music of Radio SUNNEI while navigating the premises. And speaking of which, the chosen aesthetic is understated, featuring a backdrop of whitewashed walls and a series of unassuming furnishings fixtures in a matching hue. Interestingly, the space has been structured according to geometric principles—viewed from above, racks appear as lines, the café as a series of squares, and the fitting rooms as circles and curves. Nevertheless, the SUNNEI retail sees a number of striking statement furnishings, such as a handcrafted, mycelium-insulated sound system by bio-design brand mycoaudio, and designed to enhance the store’s sonic identity, and rugs crafted in collaboration with cc-tapis,

It’s in fact a continuation of the partnership that debuted with the expansive 72 sqm. (775 sq.ft.) carpet used for the brand’s A/W 2024 show. Additionally, there’s the Sosia sofa, a collaborative effort with designer Emanuele Magini of Campeggi Design. The SUNNEI retail space stocks the brand’s full range of men’s and women’s apparel, accessories, shoes, bags, and collaborative items. As said, there’s a café on the premises, and it’s run by vermouth and liquor entrepreneur Tommaso Vergano and Anastasia Posca, owner of both Turin-based natural wine bar and cultural hub ISOLA and food + design concept store Dolphin Market. And that’s not all. The café doubles as a gallery space, and in unison with the retail space, the venue aims to be the Lombardian capital’s newest hub for forward kindred spirits, one where retail, fashion, design and culture converge. © superfuture
