Illustrator Jun Oson is based in Kamakura, a coastal town just south of the Japanese capital, and active in a wide variety of mediums. Oson draws for NHK ET channel’s anime television show Ahare! Meisaku-kun and has illustrated a so-called Tokyo Subway Etiquette Poster for the Metro Cultural Foundation. Additionally, he designed tour merchandise for pop star Gen Hoshino‘s Pop Virus album, and continues to illustrate for TV Asahi’s show Gekirea-san wo Tsuretekita. In recent years, he has been focusing on creating original artwork and has shown work in a solo exhibition at the Moods Art Museum in Beijing. Opening on Fri – Oct 30 at Diesel Art Gallery in Tokyo is Oson’s first major solo exhibition in four years in the homeland. Entitled D_I_S_T_A_N_C_E, it presents more than 20 new paintings, including large-scale pieces, and a number of older works. In addition to the works on display, character figurines, T-shirts, badges, and other related merchandise made specifically for the exhibition will be available for sale.
