As a hub of creativity and innovation, TOWNHOUSE ardently fosters homegrown talent. Helmed by creative multitasker Rom Sangkavatana, the venue offers not only a place for cross-pollination with both members of the community and aficionados, but also where to showcase their creativity. The latest exhibition, entitled Never Ordinary Objects, presents the evocative work of talented Bangkok-based lensman Ar Lhao at TOWNHOUSE‘s gallery space in the city’s Ari district. Visitors explore the world of objects through the lens of Lhao as if these objects were intentionally created to have a life of their own life in a fantastical visual setting. The Thai photographer highlights the uniqueness of common objects, such as eggs, fruit, water bottles, irons, and discarded items found in the street, while frequently pairing them with shiny steel objects, creating striking works marked by textures, shapes, and colours. By fastidiously maintaining the authentic details of each object and placing them in a new context, it’s as if these objects were purposely created to come to life. The exhibition puts together the essence of existence, to convey deep reflections and thoughts about humans, things, and the environment altogether, evoking the story and concept about the human lifecycle of creative metamorphosis and change (open through Apr 5). © superfuture.com
