With the recent revelation of the OMA-designed Torre, a nine-storey exhibition space at Fondazione Prada‘s industrial complex-turned-art venue in Milan‘s Vigentino neighbourhood, the transformation is pretty much completed. But while many assume it’s merely added space for fabulous art shows, the towering structure also comes with a fancy restaurant and bar you’d want drop by after an art fix. Also called Torre, it’s perched on the sixth floor – yes, the city views are indeed sweeping and quite enjoyable – and measures 215 sqm. (2,314 sq.ft.) spread across a dining space and an adjacent bar. The latter section is an understated affair, comprising of an elongated counter with stools, a giant suspended metal bottle rack, and a dropped ceiling lighting box that visually frames the setting.

Directly behind it, a triangular outdoor unfolds where guests can take in more views of the sprawling Lombardian capital. The restaurant seats 84 guests, across three levels which are slightly offset from each other, furnished with tulip tables and Eero Saarinen-designed executive chairs among others, and artworks by top artists such as John Baldessari, Jeff Koons and William Copley. One floor up the chef’s table can be found, an exclusive and reserved space for the most discerning gourmets with dedicated services, and it’s defined by a glass wall that provides an unobstructed view of the kitchens, and a private terrace. The menu at Torre is inspired by regional Italian cuisine, and the dishes are paired with a curated selection of fine wines from Italy and abroad.
