Founded in 2016 by designer Ivan Tengran, contemporary jewellery brand 10.GRAN – the name is a clever etymological pun – has taken its operations to the next level a little while ago by opening a new retail space, café and office at home base Moscow. Following a lengthy search, the designer secured a location on Tsvetnoy Bulvar, a bustling artery in the city’s Meshchanskiy district. The interior design, created by Tengran and his mother Yana Kasyanova, a well-established interior designer and architect, not only blends in 10.GRAN‘s brand values, but also the founder’s modernist vision. The premises feature different sections, all oozing restrained chic from a bygone era. At the entrance, visitors encounter enter a corridor with a glass-block wall, a symbolic transparent portal to the brand’s office which sits right behind it.

Although seemingly unassuming, this area has been meticulously designed, featuring flooring of of red tiles with milk-coloured grout that matches the pristine white walls, while furnishings comprise tables with the number 10, a key symbol of the brand’s identity, embedded into the table tops, enhancing the technical and industrial character of the space. The tables are paired with a series of vintage chairs from the 1950s, crafted from thin birch veneer covered with black lacquer. A pair of decorative wall-mounted Murano glass sconces by Italian company Mazzega add a soft touch to the austere industrial setting. Perforation, a key element of 10.GRAN’s design codes, is also integrated into the interior. Consequently, furniture pieces are decorated with circular motifs inspired by the iconic perforated panels of French architect and designer Jean Prouvé.

The retail space – perhaps salon is a better description? – is an elegant timber-fused space with a strong Mid-century modern vibe. Here, a backdrop of curved, lacquered dark walnut wall panels takes centre stage. Furnishings comprise a robust lacquered display cabinet with rounded corners and a seating area furnished with iconic chairs by Mart Stam and Mies van der Rohe, and a striking Dutch cream-coloured lamp from the 1970s. Additionally, the column’s shape and the element of metal tubes are inspired by 10.GRAN‘s Tube and Cross jewellery series, part of the Lilly collection, and dedicated to van der Rohe’s partner and designer Lilly Reich. The new 10.GRAN store carries the full range of rings, earrings, necklaces and pendants. © superfuture
