Following Raf Simons‘ much-publicised abrupt departure from Calvin Klein in 2018, the iconic clothing brand needed considerable time to reposition itself. No longer fashion-forward, and instead focusing on a mainstream demographic, the brand offers daily basics and streetwear with a slightly irreverent American flair. Meanwhile, Calvin Klein is raising its profile through retail, and it’s in Paris where the brand has just opened the doors of a new flagship store. The brand joins a handful of luxury brands which have recently opened up shop, or are planning to open an outpost on avenue des Champs-Elysées, arguably the most illustrious address in the French capital. The American company is part of a new wave of renowned names in fashion which allow this bustling thoroughfare to regain its glory after having been nothing short of a tourist trap for quite a few years.

Occupying no less than 600 sqm. (6,458 sq.ft.) set across two levels of an imposing office Art Deco-style building erected in 1925 by architects Marcel Julien and Louis Duhayon, the retail space features an interior design by Calvin Klein‘s in-house design team. Large floor-to-ceiling windows reveal a clean, understated and all-white aesthetic to passers-by, captured by white shelving units and displays, and steel clothing racks. Furnishings in timber, potted plants and rugs add a homey touch to the various settings. The ground floor presents Calvin Klein‘s women’s collection, in addition to its underwear and loungewear. On the mezzanine, the men’s collection can be found. The Calvin Klein store opening comes with a limited-edition menswear and womenswear capsule collection designed in a bespoke colour palette with custom branding. © superfuture
