The hotly anticipated first store of A.P.C. in Sweden has finally opened its doors. Situated in the fashionable Norrmalm shopping district in Stockholm, it occupies a unit of approx. 100 sqm. (1,076 sq.ft.) on the ground floor of Vildmannen 7, a listed late 19th-century building by Erik Josephson (1864-1929). The Swedish architect was inspired by English architecture and included Medieval elements in the design. Following a devastating fire in 2017, the structure has seen a meticulous restoration to its former glory, recreating its façade of sandstone from the northern Roslagen region, and implementing large, slightly arched windows. The interior design of the A.P.C. boutique is once again created by Paris-based architect Laurent Deroo and his team.
The setting sees a suspended galvanised steel construction hovering, serving as display for apparel, take centre stage in the front section. A circular carpet visually demarcates the location. The back section is all timber, and boasts a lowered ceiling, creating a broad edge decorated with black and white stripes, and vaguely reminiscent of a Daniel Buren artwork. This section sees two counters, displays and tiered shelving all integrated. A support beam comes with a circular, tiered display in timber. At the back, the fitting rooms and an integrated bench can be found. Flooring of polished concrete ties in all both store sections.
