It has only been a few months since Axel Arigato opened its flagship store in Stockholm, and now, the sneaker brand has expanded its presence in the city with a second retail space at Nordiska Kompaniet. The department store has been a fixture in the Swedish capital’s retail scene for many decades and is known to be a luxury hub for a discerning shopper demographic. Situated at the men’s department on the second floor, the shop-in-shop features the design codes defined in collaboration with local architect Christian Halleröd and first revealed in July at the brand’s flagship store in Copenhagen. The aesthetic of the Axel Arigato shop-in-shop is minimalist yet whimsical, and in stark contrast with the department store’s more traditional settings. Anchored by electric blue carpeting with ‘Arigato’ woven in multiple times, it’s merely furnished with sleek elongated shelving and three large cloud-shaped displays crafted from Jesmonite and dipped in matching high-gloss paint. Additionally, two pillars are clad in slabs of mirror top to bottom and optically widen the space. The new shop-in-shop carries Axel Arigato‘s full range of men’s and women’s sneakers.

Publishers Note
Just to be clear – superfuture® is a design blog and not a political commentator. No surprise there. The scope of our content has always been global and borderless, however that can often mean covering projects in countries where we will not agree with the politics or actions of those countries. In a world that’s as screwed up as ever right now, the focus of our support is to those designers, architects and other creatives who aim to make the world a more liveable one – as opposed to people that try their hardest to destroy it. So if a project hits our desk and we like it based on its design credentials, we may choose to publish regardless of its location or creators nationality. superfuture® has always been inclusive and hopes for all current wars, aggression, violence, hate and extremism to end.
