The boys from Madhappy have come a long way, spreading their laidback vibe and aesthetic from coast to coast stateside, and now, also in what’s arguably the biggest streetwear shopping destination overseas—Tokyo. Located at BA-TSU GALLERY, smack in the middle of the Harajuku area’s boutique-lined alleyways, the pop-up store and café, dubbed office madhappy, features a specially designed interior that’s inspired by, yes indeed, office aesthetics. Measuring 186 sqm. (2,002 sq.ft.), the ground floor space is dotted with sleek furnishings by renowned Swiss modular furniture brand USM Haller, and the café section features a sizeable bench with custom-made cushions, all in a pristine white hue. So, what’s in store at office madhappy?

Placed front and centre at the pop-up store is a selection of apparel items and accessories from Madhappy‘s S/S 2024 Collection, in addition to its popular classic sweatshirt series. Added to the mix of offerings are issues of Local Optimist, the brand’s very own biannual art and lifestyle magazine, and as said, there’s a café as well. Aptly named pantry, it’s managed by Nathalie Morita, barista and owner of popular Tokyo-based coffee parlour Hotel Drugs. The café serves the latter’s signature concoction Mental Temple, a quirky blend of matcha and espresso. In celebration of the pop-up store opening, a special limited-edition hoodie and T-shirt have been released, and those who splurge more than JPY 44,000 will receive an original tote bag (open through Apr 14). © superfuture.com
