Situated southeast of Bangkok‘s traffic-congested inner city, straddled alongside the Chao Phraya river, the Bangna neighbourhood is fast-emerging as preferred home turf for Thai middle class families and expats alike. Obviously, the gentrification comes with an infrastructure that keeps abreast with the sensibilities of its new savvy residents, and that includes evocative coffee parlours. In the latter category falls the newest outpost of Nana Coffee Roasters, a coffee brand founded by Thai  entrepreneurs and acclaimed baristas Warong Chalanuchpong and Kanda Thochampa. Occupying an existing redeveloped modern structure which previously housed a restaurant, Nana café measures 250 sqm. (2,691 sq.ft.) spread across four interconnected structures set in a shady landscaped garden created by TROP a design studio based in Bangkok and Shanghai.

The building has been dramatically transformed by acclaimed local practice IDIN Architects which also created the interior design, resulting in lofty settings encased in floor-to-ceiling glass which aim to blur the boundaries between the indoors and the lush garden. The main structures in the front are a result of maintaining continuity in the roofline with the existing building which extends into three masses where the Speed Bar and the indoor seats are located. The front part of the existing building is renovated as a part of the Slow Bar and service zone. The restrooms, situated behind these buildings and similarly surrounded by lush greens, are designed as independent pods. The menu at the new Nana café obviously lists plenty of coffee options, from classic concoctions to iced equivalents, in addition to hot and iced matcha tea and chocolate milk, special tea blends, and a wide range of coffee roasts.
