Hot on the heels of a showcase in Amsterdam, the WallpaperSTORE* has also popped up halfway across the planet, and once again, with a wide range of tightly curated trophies. Snugly nestled on the premises of Leisure Center, arguably Vancouver‘s leading concept store, the retail installation is a collab effort by local design practices New Format and Jeff Martin Joinery. The set-up is composed of the respective designers’ Neolith and Mers series, and serve as an homage to the natural landscapes and rugged outdoors of the Pacific Northwest. As such, it’s interspersed with lush greens provided by Celsia Florist. Interestingly, the two design practices fuse different perspectives, pairing the familiarity of ancient materials through the distortion and reimagination of their identity on one side, and the tweaking of modern utilitarian materials on the other. The spatial inspiration comes in the form of the omnipresent bookshelf, and here it’s interpreted in different forms, resulting in playful and more interactive space for shoppers. the WallpaperSTORE* is stocked with a curated selection of goods from the online store (open through Dec 31).
