Taking its name from London‘s Savile Row and its sartorial excellence, twin founders Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen set the bar high for their luxury fashion brand The Row. But the former teenie bopper TV stars ultimately delivered, winning CFDA‘s highly coveted Womenswear Designer of the Year Award twice. The creative vision of the Olsen’s hasn’t just resonated well with industry professionals, but also with a growing number of discerning consumers across the planet. Following the opening of standalone stores in Los Angeles in 2014, and two years later in New York City, The Row has crossed the Big Pond to open an outpost in London. Needless to say, the retail space is situated in Mayfair, home to an endless array of high-end boutiques, and arguably the British capital’s most coveted shopping grounds.

Occupying 530 sqm. (5,700 sq.ft.) unit on the premises of Mayfair House, a grand Neo-Georgian townhouse built in the 1920s, it features an interior design by New York City-based practice Selldorf Architects. Similar to The Row‘s previously opened stores, the new retail space has the feel of a private home, and a very sophisticated one at that, featuring a backdrop of pristine white walls and both polished concrete and wooden flooring for cohesive range of cherry-picked designer furnishings and art works. Upon entering the store, shoppers see eye to eye with a light piece by James Turrell, in addition to a number of other trophies, including Le Corbusier chairs and a Giò Ponti sofa on the ground floor and a dining room table by Charlotte Perriand one floor up. Interspersed are sleek metal clothing racks and shelving which present The Row‘s women’s and men’s apparel, accessories, bags, shoes and eyewear.
