Following a lengthy absence, Filippa K has returned to P.C. Hooftstraat, Amsterdam‘s undisputed golden mile of luxury shopping. The Stockholm-based fashion brand, helmed since last year by creative director Liisa Kessler, has set up shop a few doors down its previous location. The new premises, measuring 170 sqm. (1,830 sq.ft.) across two floors of a former residential building, sees an interior design created by Kessler in collaboration with Profan, an architecture practice based in the Swedish capital. The renewed collab – mind you, the architecture firm also pitched in for the interior design of the Filippa K store in Helsinki which we covered in a previous post – has resulted in a site-specific design marked by a striking icy blue shade which references Nordic winter landscapes which inspired Kessler’s first ad campaign for the brand.

Mind you, she took ample cues from the local tradition of ice bathing in the remote north of Sweden. Primarily captured by the store’s clay-based floors, the striking colour also extends to the staircase, in addition to various furnishings and fixtures, including an elliptic sales counter with mirror top, cabinets, shelving and shard-like display tables and stools by German designer Malte van der Meyden. Elements of nature inform the design choices as clothing rails rendered in chrome feature subtle distortions in their form. This theme continues through shelving and tables complete with mirrored tops. The new Filippa K store presents the full womenswear collection and Core Collection pieces on the ground floor, while the menswear collection and Core Collection items can be found upstairs. The upper floor also features a terrace overlooking a sunny back garden.
