Following three much-publicised ephemeral retail spaces in the fashion capitals of Paris, Milan and London, JACQUEMUS shifts its retail focus back to the French capital, opening a permanent boutique – well, more or less, but we’ll talk about that later – on swanky avenue Montaigne. The location is known as a hub of established luxury brands, and the boutiques of Jil Sander, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Chloé, Loewe, and Celine can all be found here. The opening of the store, aptly dubbed La Boutique Montaigne,  is a bit of a full-circle feeling for designer Simon Porte Jacquemus because it’s right here where the Frenchman presented his third collection on the street many years ago. The store occupies 200 sqm. (2,153 sq.ft.) set across two floors of an Art Déco-style building erected in the 1920s, and similarly to the string of previous pop-up store, the premises are monochromatic and playful.

The latter element is instantly obvious, given the sizable popcorn vending machine that marks the store façade. Inside, a shopping realm dipped in a soothing cream hue unfolds, captured by flooring, walls, ceilings, in addition to all furnishings and fixtures. The interior design, created by JACQUEMUS‘ own design team, sees plenty of references to the designer’s Provence roots and culture, but also bold design statements, such as super sleek and intricately folded plaster shelves inspired by artist Alberto Giacometti, a sourced mirror by Pierre Cardin, and an abstract sculpture by Maurice Carlier. Guess what? There’s another popcorn vending machine further into the store and for the most discerning of shoppers, a V.I.P. room is readily available. The new JACQUEMUS store carries the brand’s full range of women’s and men’s offerings, and will be operational until February of next year.
