Unsurprisingly, it’s in Toronto where Acne Studios makes its debut in Canada‘s burgeoning retail scene. The Stockholm-based fashion brand has secured a ground floor unit in a new wing of Yorkdale, rubbing shoulders with the alluring boutiques of peers from fashion and lifestyle’s upper echelon, such as Fendi, Thom Browne, Louis Vuitton, Diptyque and Cartier. From afar, the boutique, designed in collaboration with Swedish architect Christian Halleröd, stands out with its clean and understated façade clad in Rosa Perlino marble imported from Italy. Indoor, the material adorns pillars and select wall sections, and is paired with whitewashed walls and concrete flooring. The furnishings and fixtures are sparse, comprising merely of sleek metal clothing racks, shelving and display tables, and overhead, matching light fixtures by French designer Benoît Lalloz. A dash of colour comes in the form of designer Max Lamb‘s tie-dye ottomans and displays, adding an artsy element to the premises, in conjunction with artist Daniel Silver‘s mannequins. The new Acne Studios store carries the brand’s men’s and women’s apparel, accessories, bags, small leather goods, shoes and eyewear.
