At long last, MYKITA has arrived in Hamburg with a standalone store in the heart of the city. The Berlin-based eyewear brand has secured a ground floor unit of Palaishaus, a heritage-listed building which is part of a redeveloped complex of historic structures with ornate Baroque and Neo-Renaissance façades. Quirky neon signage points towards a converted window, allowing a grand entrance to the lofty boutique. Upon entering, shoppers see eye to eye with the current collections displayed on curved, seven-metre display wall, a signature fixture in all of the brand’s retail spaces, lining a large part of the inner walls, while seasonal highlights and design novelties are found on the asymmetrical shelving on the right side of the room. Additional furnishings and fixtures are few and functional yet compatible with the austere design codes, but includes striking bright orange accents, captured by chairs and floor-to-ceiling support beams. An open mezzanine level and the view of the optical lab, equipped with an  advanced Zeiss Vision Centre, and workshop used for in-store frame adjustments and lens fittings. The new MYKITA store carries the brand’s full range of eyewear collections, including the coveted design collaborations with Maison Margiela, Helmut Lang, and Leica.
