Acne Studios has opened a third retail space in Beijing, and quite interestingly, it’s a stone’s throw away from its boutique at SKP mall. A little while ago, the latter mall has spawned a brand new satellite shopping centre across the road with a fantastical and immersive interior design. Called SKP-S, the complex is not only designed by the creatives behind the hugely successful Korean eyewear brand Gentle Monster, but also features special collaborative retail concepts with high-ends brands. It has proven to be a major draw for a large contingent of affluent young shoppers in the Chinese capital, and a presence here for any brand targeting this market is vital. The Acne Studios occupies a lofty unit on the ground floor, brushing shoulders with other household names from fashion’s upper echelon, and flaunts the brand’s newest retail design codes as laid down in collaboration with Stockholm-based architect Christian Halleröd. As always understated, the store sees a backdrop of white walls, metal panelling, beige carpeting and a ceiling with a configuration of linear light fixtures by designer Benoît Lalloz. Furnishings comprise of chunky room dividers lined with sleek metal clothing racks, tiered wall-mounted shelving of the same material, and last but not least, designer Max Lamb‘s organically shaped displays. The new Acne Studios store carries the brand’s full range of men’s and women’s apparel, accessories, bags, shoes and jewellery pieces.
