Concept store Manifesto popped up almost four years ago, shaking up Singapore‘s flourishing retail scene with tempting offerings for a discerning, and arguably most savvy, demographic of young trend-conscious consumers. Founder Walid Zaazaa, a seasoned professional within the realm of fashion, is taking his operations to another level, relocating the store to new premises at Mandarin Gallery, one of the many upscale shopping malls along the Orchard Road shopping axis. The retail space is situated in the second floor of the shopping complex, and sees a renewed collab with architecture practice WY-TO. Maintaining a minimalist approach, the setting here takes cues from Zaazaa’s roots in the Maghreb, capturing the beauty of Saharan landscapes by way of abstract forms and a compatible palette of soft hues.

Striking elements include the entrance, shaped by by fractal forms lined with LED lights, references a nomadic tent, and a chunky sales counter, handcrafted from concrete infused with red pigment that lends it an artisanal look. Interestingly, parts of the wooden moulds to create the structure have been kept and are displayed as an installation by the window display. The store is additionally furnished with modular shelving and displays, a single see-through shelving system in matching white, and angular steel clothing racks. An exposed ceiling with meandering utility pipes adds to Manifesto‘s artsy vibe. The store continues to indulge its savvy following with its offering of over 30 carefully sourced brands encompassing fashion, avant-garde streetwear, and lifestyle accessories. The brand list includes coveted names drom around the planet, such as A.P.C., Linda FarrowsLemaire, MM6Axel Arigato, and Holzpuppe, and from coming July also Our Legacy and Joseph.
