The Far East called, and FREITAG boldly answered. The Swiss tarp bag brand had been present in China with a string of depositories for quite some , but decided to step up its presence with a standalone store, and quite obviously, it has opened its doors in Shanghai. The teeming megalopolis arguably is most receptive to trends and styles from oversees, and FREITAG‘s unique merchandise resonate well with forward locals. The store is operated by its local reseller and lifestyle store Harbook+, and is located in the city’s former French concession. Occupying 150 sqm. (1,615 sq.ft.) spread across two floors of a cubic concrete structure, and features the brand’s signature minimalist interior design, including its elaborate shelving system. Also to be found on the premises is a full-fledged repair unit, so bags won’t have to be shipped overseas. The new FREITAG store carries no less than 1,100 individually designed bags, pouches and wallets.
