Balmain‘s retail expansion is in full swing, and it doesn’t look it’ll stop anytime soon. Following the launch of retail spaces on the Old Continent, the focus has once again shifted across the Atlantic, and as of late, a brand new outpost has opened its doors in Miami. Situated at Bal Harbour Shops, one of the city’s leading shopping grounds for luxury fashion, the boutique measures 270 sqm. and sees a renewed collab between creative director Olivier Rousteing and Paris-based practice Studio AMV. The design objective was to capture the unique vibe, and obviously the glam that’s inextricably attached to it, of the French capital, in a contemporary way. The two parties focused on the hôtel particulier, or townhouse, breaking it down into ten particular elements, each of which was then associated with one key Balmain signature. This has resulted in the creation of a series of connected, distinct rooms, each inspired by the look of a living space such as library, garden, and boudoir, and each is dedicated to a section of the Balmain collection. The parquet, moldings, chandeliers, curtains and mirrors may all be a clear nod to classic, but they’ve been playfully tweaked to reflect Rousteing’s forward style and vision, and the created aesthetic will serve as a prototype for all of Balmain‘s future retail spaces. The Miami new store carries the brand’s full range of women’s and men’s apparel, accessories, bags, eyewear and denim pieces. The stateside expansion is accelerating as another store has simultaneously opened its doors in Las Vegas.
