It’s full throttle for Maison Kitsuné in South Korea. Banking on its new partnership with Samsung C&T, the construction and engineering division of the giant South Korean conglomerate Samsung, the French clothing brand further expands its operations in the Far East. The first of five planned new outposts has obviously opened in fashion hub Seoul, and given the voracious appetite of local hipsters, Maison Kitsuné indulges them with both a well-stocked retail space and an adjacent café in the popular Garosu-gil shopping area. Measuring approx. 330 sqm. (3,552 sq.ft.) set across four floors, the premises feature a contemporary interior with slight classic references, captured by elements such as parquet flooring, marble and glass cabinets, and an abundance of sleek metal pipes.

The ground floor presents the brand’s accessories collection, but also accommodates social hub Café Kitsuné. One floor up, both the men’s and women’s apparel collections are presented. On the third floor an exclusive capsule collection which celebrates the store opening can be found, and finally, on the top floor, the exclusive Maison Kitsuné Parisien collection is showcased. The Korean roll-out of co-founders Gildas Loaëc and Masaya Kuroki is part of a much bigger scheme as plans are underway to open a string of additional boutiques in Taiwan, Indonesia, Hong Kong and China, and similar to the duo’s newly launched operations in South Korea, the future endeavours will be executed with a local partner in each of these fast-emerging markets.
