Japanese lifestyle brand Muji has teamed up with Parisian retail institution Merci for a collab showcase on the latter’s iconic store on boulevard Beaumarchais. The presentation, simply entitled Unit Merci Muji, is inspired by the common ground that both entities share: the preference of simplicity and authenticity over prestigious labels. In Japanese the name Muji translates to non-branded quality goods, and that’s why the company’s Unit Shelf, a stainless steel modular system, has been given centre stage in the store. Versatile and durable, the storage system easily adapts to any purpose and any space. Interestingly, it’s also the main concern of many of today’s urban dwellers whose living ideals are often restricted by a lack of space. Merci art director Daniel Rosensztroch has curated settings across the store which demonstrate both the shelving system’s versatility and and compatibility with all of Merci‘s alluring merchandise (on through Nov 10). Location: Merci, 111 boulevard Beaumarchais (Marais).
Publishers Note
Just to be clear – superfuture® is a design blog and not a political commentator. No surprise there. The scope of our content has always been global and borderless, however that can often mean covering projects in countries where we will not agree with the politics or actions of those countries. In a world that’s as screwed up as ever right now, the focus of our support is to those designers, architects and other creatives who aim to make the world a more liveable one – as opposed to people that try their hardest to destroy it. So if a project hits our desk and we like it based on its design credentials, we may choose to publish regardless of its location or creators nationality. superfuture® has always been inclusive and hopes for all current wars, aggression, violence, hate and extremism to end.
