Tokyo‘s upscale Aoyama shopping district is home to a large number of flagship stores, making the city one of the planet’s leading shopping destinations. As of late, Milan-based outerwear and apparel brand Stone Island has joined the ranks with a standalone boutique of its own, smack in the middle of the neighbourhood’s maze of alleyways. The retail space measures 300 sqm. spread across two floors, and features an interior design by the brand’s in-house design team. Large floor-to-ceiling windows allow in ample daylight, and their metal frames match well with the angular shapes of the interior design. Diamond-worked floor tiles are paired with matching fibreglass displays and suspended modular clothing racks made of aluminum. At the back of the ground floor, a wood element emerges, captured by panels that enclose the fitting rooms and furnishings. A glass encased staircase leads to the second floor where a similar aesthetic can be found with matching displays in wood. The Stone Island store carries the brand’s full range of Stone Island and Stone Island Shadow collections.

Publishers Note
Just to be clear – superfuture® is a design blog and not a political commentator. No surprise there. The scope of our content has always been global and borderless, however that can often mean covering projects in countries where we will not agree with the politics or actions of those countries. In a world that’s as screwed up as ever right now, the focus of our support is to those designers, architects and other creatives who aim to make the world a more liveable one – as opposed to people that try their hardest to destroy it. So if a project hits our desk and we like it based on its design credentials, we may choose to publish regardless of its location or creators nationality. superfuture® has always been inclusive and hopes for all current wars, aggression, violence, hate and extremism to end.
