New Balance Japan presents a design-led installation at Dover Street Market Ginza, one of Tokyo‘s premier shopping destinations for the city’s fashion-forward shoppers. The installation, designed by architect Takuya Sakamoto of local architecture practice ATELIER WRITE, presents the brand’s Uni-ssentials by TDS FW24 capsule collection created by TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO New Balance, a Tokyo-based lifestyle brand developed by New Balance. The Uni-ssentials by TDS FW24 capsule collection aims to explore the essence of gender neutrality. As such, the garments are displayed in different sizes, and the fixtures are playfully tilted to align with the hems, visually reflecting this concept. Ready-made steel racks were modified into clothing racks and updated with a rainbow interference finish through chromate treatment which is inspired by the blurring of photos printed on the clothes. Non-toxic trivalent chromium was used to achieve both aesthetics and sustainability. Additionally, a matching shoe rack was created using scrap from the clothing rack posts (on through Oct 9). © superfuture
