Multi-brand cosmetics retailer HAYDON continues its expansion across China with another striking design-led retail space, and this one has recently opened its doors in the city of Xi’an. The company tapped Chinese interior design practice Salone del Salon to create fitting settings, and similar to other HAYDON stores, they’ve come up with evocative site-specific settings. So here, on the premises of a modern multi-storey building, shoppers have the sense of wading at the bottom of a tranquil pond, thanks to flooring of deep green tiles, strewn with black diamond-like space capsules that add a sci-fi touch. Measuring a total of 720 sqm. (861 sq.ft.), the ground floor presents a fantastical installation of life-size roses sit below an atrium space with concrete beams, flanked on all sides by modern displays laden with merchandise. An adjacent section sees rows of shelving units in matching green, while directly opposite lining the wall, wall-mounted shelves come in silvery metal. A staircase, also in green and with backlit steps, leads to the mezzanine floor. The setting here is more or less similar, and here, the atrium is adorned by a striking light installation which incorporates the concrete beams. The new HAYDON store carries a wide range of established and niche foreign brands, including GuerlainSulwhasooMao GepingBorghese3CE and Gucci.
