It’s undeniable that Oslo‘s rise as a luxury shopping destination has gained new momentum with last week’s opening of a new Dior boutique. The iconic French fashion house has shunned both Copenhagen and Stockholm, the rivalling neighbouring capitals with a more established and developed retail scene, to open its first standalone retail space in the Nordic countries. The Dior boutique occupies two floors in a monumental late 19th-century building by Norwegian architect Ove Ekman on Nedre Slottsgate, the city’s fast-evolving golden mile of luxury shopping. Designed by Dior‘s in-house design team, the premises feature the brand’s latest retail design codes, featuring a palette of off-white, beige, gold and a dash of soft pink for the women’s section and captured by a variety of settings, and a more understated aesthetic with striking carpets with abstract motifs in shades of blue for men. Intricate Versailles parquet flooring ties in the two sections. The new Dior boutique stocks the full range of women’s and men’s apparel, accessories, shoes, bags, jewellery and eyewear.
