The irreverent style of Acne Studios resonates well with savvy Chinese youth, and it’s no wonder the Stockholm-based brand has opened a third outpost in Beijing. The store is situated in Sanlitun, a prestigious open-air shopping complex, and as it happens, it’s the preferred shopping grounds of well-heeled Millennials and Gen Z. The retail space is set across two floors of a modern structure, and sees an interior design by Acne Studios creative director Jonny Johansson in collaboration with Swedish design practice and longtime collaborator Halleroed. From afar, the store stands out due to its voluminous façade covered in pink granite stone. On the ground floor, the pink granite boldly extends, covering not only the entire floor, but also a large sculptural staircase which more or less takes centra stage.

Additional furnishings are few and simple, merely comprising of sleek steel clothing racks lining the walls, a blob-like sofa in black leather by British furniture designer Max Lamb, Paris-based designer Benoît Lalloz‘ sleek light fixtures, modular glass display cabinets with pink anodised metal and natural silver coloured frames, and last but not least, mannequins by artist Daniel Silver. One floor up, the setting is similarly austere, but captured by a geometrical pattern grey carpet resembling a standard, concrete outdoor paving tile. Here, furnishings include an elongated tiered metal shelving unit, steel clothing racks, and a similar large leather sofa. The new Acne Studios store carries the full range of men’s and women’s apparel, denim pieces, accessories, shoes, bags and jewellery pieces. © superfuture
