Nanjing may not be one of China‘s first-tier cities, it is however, the capital of one of the country’s most affluent provinces. As such, and in a very first-tier city fashion, the sprawling metropolis of 11 million or so inhabitants, has spawned an infrastructure where its well-heeled shops for new trophies. There’s no doubt Deji Plaza is the local epicentre of expensive indulgence, given the abundance of boutiques of the planet’s leading luxury brands. Needless to say, it’s right here where Acne Studios has set up its latest outpost. Situated on the second floor of Phase II, the mall’s luxury wing, the store rubs shoulders with upscale brands Tory Burch and Issey Miyake, and features an interior design by Stockholm-based architect and longtime collaborator Christian Halleröd. Adhering to Acne Studios‘ newest retail design codes, the retail space is understated yet playful, albeit subtly, and pairs pristine white walls and ceiling with soft pink carpeting. Furnishings are sparse, comprising of display tables, shelving, and clothing racks crafted from metal, in addition to wooden pieces by London-based artist Max Lamb. Also, similarly to the brand’s other stores of late, the light fixtures are courtesy of Studio Benoît Lalloz in Paris. The new Acne Studios store carries the full range of men’s and women’s apparel, shoes, accessories, bags and shoes.
