Coinciding with the global glitz fest that is the annual Cannes Film Festival, iconic Roman fashion house FENDI has inaugurated a new boutique in swanky French Riviera resort. The LVMH-affiliated brand has secured a prestigious location—a 510 sqm. (5,490 sq.ft.) unit on the ground floor of a large complex smack on the seafront which is anchored by the five-star JW Marriott hotel. The interior design, created by FENDI‘s in-house design team, aims to reflect the Mediterranean charm and unique atmosphere of Cannes. The store’s façade is lined with vertically crafted glass lamps, creating a dialogue of sorts between the indoors and outdoors. The upright shape of the lamp, which illuminates the window day and night, was inspired by the scenic ambience of light reflected in Mediterranean ports. As a matter of fact, the sea and the maritime world have been very much an inspiration source.

Upon entering the store, shoppers find themselves in the leather goods are where the chosen aesthetic is inspired by reflections on the water surface, creating continuity with the lamps on the façade. Taking centre stage is a three-dimensional cube made of ash and teak wood, reminiscent of the deck of a boat, and two fitting rooms are accessed through doors with nautical-inspired handles, flanked by a range of FENDI handbags displayed in embossed fabric niches with chrome-plated details. The main room’s backdrop comprises ocean travertine marble with distinctive aqua-green veins, while the side niches feature travertine shelves and plaster forming FENDI‘s striped motif. Additionally, ribbed square travertine columns are a nod to Roman architecture and the house’s roots. Right behind the aforementioned cube, the menswear domain is situated.

Also to be found on the premises is a salon designed by Maxime Delcourt, featuring walls clad in ocean travertine and and a round wooden table. The women’s section also sees travertine walls, but here it’s inspired by ancient Roman textures, alternating with three-dimensional niches. The intimate living area is set in warm, natural tones with a rectangular wood table by Maxime Delcourt and an Eternity travertine bench by Arda Yeniay. One floor up, a special events space is situated, featuring a dining area and a salon that opens onto a large terrace with sweeping views of the Mediterranean Sea. The walls and ceilings are made of warm concrete, and the floors have contrasting dark wenge wood parquet. The softly curved walls with recessed shelving showcase special pieces from the FENDI Casa collection. The salon is furnished with sofas by Emmanuelle Simon, a round dining table with a powdered marble, and pendant lamps by Giopato & Coombes. © superfuture
