Following a store and three matching hospitality formats at home base Madrid, there’s no denying Neutrale is a contemporary lifestyle brand. As of late, the company has expanded with another retail space, and this one  opened its doors, far beyond the city borders, in Barcelona. Situated on the ground floor of a modern, six-storey residential building in Ciutat Vella, the historic inner city, the Neutrale store features an interior design by estudio DIIR, an architecture practice based in the Spanish capital. The interior design is a continuation of the brand’s signature Mediterranean retail aesthetic, albeit adapted to the location and captured in an entirely different form. The rectangular space has been fully stripped, revealing elements of the building’s concrete shell while two striking sculptural elements have been added.

A seemingly inserted curved wall redefines the geometry of the space, creating depth and a new visual dynamic, and as such, a different spatial experience of the premises. Consequently, upon entering the store, shoppers are automatically guided to the sleek metal clothing racks placed alongside it. Taking centre stage is a tiered display crafted from bricks which also serves as a counter featuring built-in drawers. The walls and display are crafted from Fetdeterra, a solution made of compacted earth blocks, and which reflects the essence of the Balearic Islands. Two curtained doorways conceal the Neutrale store’s fitting rooms, while suspended tubular lights follow the brick wall’s shape, adding to the coherence of the design. The new Neutrale store carries the brand’s full range of men’s apparel, accessories, assorted lifestyle items, books and eyewear.
