Boldly acknowledging its female clientele, KITH has recently inaugurated a dedicated retail space at home base New York City. Mind you, the inauguration coincides with the announcement that Amsterdam-based designer Danielle Cathari has been appointed as KITH‘s new creative director of womenswear. Situated on Broadway, on the premises of the former headquarters of the Manhattan Savings Institute, which in fact, was KITH‘s very first retail location in town, the store sees an interior design created by i founder and creative director Ronnie Fieg. Retaining much of the historic building’s original architectural details, the store also sees many signature KITH retail elements. Entering the store, in its light-filled main room, shoppers find an elegant setting with a backdrop of off-white plastered walls, walnut and brass trims, and paired with checkered timber motif flooring and a variety of matching furnishings by Mark Jupiter, a custom furniture company based in New York City.
The adjacent footwear section oozes a similar kind of elegance, featuring tiered travertine shelves, laden with trophy shoes, and a striking oblong custom-made chandelier by award-winning Italian brand Viabizzuno. Similar attention has been given to the fitting rooms which come with walnut frames and custom walnut benches, also crafted by Mark Jupiter. The new KITH Womens store carries the retailer’s own apparel line and a curated selection of leading other brands, in addition to footwear, as said, accessories, bags, eyewear and jewellery pieces. Last but not least, a flower shop and adjacent café can be found at the KITH Womens store, managed by PlantShed. While the flower shop obviously stocks fresh flowers, in addition to pottery, custom bouquets, and mini succulents on the shelves, the café offers a full menu of beverages and food, including an array of toasts, signature salads and various classic French pastries.
